Review (by Malcolm Storey)

At last, a useable treatment of this difficult genus!

Introductory chapters cover material and methods, macroscopical and microscopical characters and infrageneric characters. Particular attention should be paid to the section on spores which defines scales describing ornamentation, loosening of the perispore and dextrinoid reaction, which are used in the keys.

A key to six sections and subsections is followed by the corresponding keys to species. Microscopic characters are used throughout.

The keys are followed by species accounts with the excellent colour photographs we have come to expect from this series.
